Derrill Jack Sanders, 78, of Waco, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel, 4520 Bosque.
Derrill was born on September 3, 1927 in Waco to Thomas A. and Mattie M. Sanders. He graduated from Waco High School in 1945. He served in the US Navy for three years on a US destroyer based out of Norfolk, Va. during WWII and the Korean conflict. He attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He was a big Baylor sports fan.
He is survived by his sons, Alan Sanders of Waco; Mark Sanders and wife, Kathy of Ingelside, Larry Sanders and wife, Linda of San Leon; grandsons, Brandon Sanders of Waco, Jeremy Sanders of Dallas, Daniel Sanders, Paul Sanders, and Ethan Sanders of San Leon; granddaughter, Karen Sanders of the US Army stationed in Iraq; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Sanders of Waco, and a brother, T.A. Sanders of Hico.
