July 12, 1937 - February 7, 2012
Donald Ray Neyhard, 74, of Woodway, "Husband, Dad, and Pa", passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family.
A time of remembrance and gathering will be both 5 - 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, and Tuesday, Feb. 14, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.
A private interment service will be Wednesday at White Rock Cemetery near Ross with Rev. Jim Gray officiating.
Don was the son of Corris and Hilda Neyhard of Elm Mott. He was Connally High School's 1955 Valedictorian. He was a member of the National Guard for six years. Don attended the University of Texas as well as Baylor University, but was truly a "Sic' Em Bears" Kinda Guy. He started work with HEB at the age of 15 and continued into his twenties. His best stories came from the years that he was Sales Manager with Quaker Oaks into his thirties. His next job with PakRite Plastics gave him the framework to start his own business. With the help of his wife, Darlene, they formed Unit-Pak, Inc. in 1977 which today is still in operation.
Don was a published art photographer. His Southwest Region and church prints have been a favorite to him and many others. He has had showings in Houston, Clifton, and The Art Center in Waco. Everyone who knew Don "Pa" dared NOT to call during Baylor Sports games or Dallas Cowboys Football.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nanette; and beloved Cocker Spaniel "Ginger Freckles."
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Darlene; his sister, Carolyn Lenahan and husband Buzz of California; daughters, Suzi Williams and husband Bob, Teresa Pavelka and husband James, and Jammie Spicer and husband Robert; sons, Chris Wigley and Keith Brown; grandchildren, Kayla Nix, Tawna Eubanks, Justin Nix, Cade Pavelka, Callie Williams, Cooper Williams, and Blake Brown; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorials may be made to your favorite pet organization.
The family would like to thank Bluebonnet Hospice caregivers, especially Brandi, Jennifer, and Jake.
