Dorcas Irene Slough, 89, passed away on Tuesday in Desoto. Services will be held Friday, December 8, at 2 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Chandler of Central United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, December 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
Dorcas was born December 15, 1916 to Marvin and Rosemary Hill, in the town of West, Texas. She was a retired medical technician. Dorcas had a special love for her brothers and their families. She loved family more than anything, was always the family historian, loved writing short stories, and poetry. Many of her memories and thoughts were reflected in her writings.
Dorcas will be truly missed by all who loved her. Dorcas will always be a big part of our lives. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh Rankin Slough.
She is survived by her children: sons, Hugh and wife Evelyn of Dallas, Tommy and wife Terri of Austin, and daughter, Priscilla and husband Tom Brawner of Dallas. Dorcas is also survived by a brother, Gordan and wife Janda Hill of Waco. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Suzanne and husband Jimmy Sanders, Phillip and wife Christine Slough, William and wife Cathy Slough, Mason and wife Sarah Holt, and Travis Greer. Dorcas was blessed with seven great-grandchildren and one great great grandson.
