Doris Fowler, 83, passed away at Wesley Woods Saturday, Dec 10, 2011 surrounded by her children. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 16 at Woodway First united Methodist Church.
Doris was born in Tokio, TX to Theodore and Amanda Steinkamp. In 1948 she married her soulmate, John Fowler. Doris worked in Waco at Wimpy's Hamburgers, Ward Drug, Amicable Life Insurance, Word Record, and 18 years as secretary at Midway ISD. Doris was devoted to her family and was a wonderful role model for her children.
Doris loved gardening, collecting rocks, sewing, traveling, cooking, bird watching, and dancing. She was an active member of Woodway First United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years.
She is survived by two sisters, Gladys Reese and Aline Harville; two daughters, Linda Newberry and husband, Keith of Huffman and Carole Cline and husband, Ron, of Morgan's Point Resort; son, Victor Fowler and wife, Lori, of Woodway; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
