Doris Fay Everett Hodges, 81, of Waco, passed away late Monday afternoon, January 17, 2005 in St. Catherine's Center of Waco.
Funeral services will be at 2p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. David Alwine officiating. Burial will follow in McGregor Cemetery.
Visitation with her family will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Doris was born May 29, 1923 in Killeen to Loyd and Lois Everett. She married James Hodges on May 24, 1941 in Waco.
She worked at the Blue Bonnett Ordinance Plant in McGregor during World War II. She became a beautician in the early 1950s, and she operated and managed shops throughout Waco for several years.
She and her long-time friend, Joan Baker, became owners of Westview Village Beauty Solon in 1973 where she served as manager until her retirement in 1997.
She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and entertaining. One of her greatest joys was her memorable Christmas Eve celebrations.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Waco, and was a member of the first confirmation class of the church.
She will be remembered as a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Edwin Hodges; son, Don Hodges and wife, Beverly; granddaughters, Eren Price and husband, Waren, Casan Bowers and husband, David, and Hillary Hodges; grandson, Matthew Hodges; great-grandson, Jackson Price; great-greaddaughter, Taylor Pursley; brother, Derle Everett and wife, Betty; and devoted friend and business partner, Joan Baker.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Foit, Brent Allen, Waren Price, David Bowers, Bobby Hodges, and Jim Stafford.
