Doris Virginia Kilgore Neumann, 86, of Waco, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Royal Manor Nursing Home in Waco.

Services will be at 2 pm Saturday, October 8, at OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation with her family will be Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.

Doris was born April 19, 1925 in Waco to Oda C. Kilgore Jr. and Carrie Mae Kilgore. She attended Waco High School and Baylor University. She married Andrew W. Neumann, who died in 1993.

Doris retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Waco where she worked in the Psychology Services Department. She was a member of the North Waco Baptist Church. Doris was active in the PTA during her son's elementary and middle school years. Doris was a member of the Bluebonnet Chapter of Sweet Adelines and traveled with the group to several Regional and National singing
competitions. She enjoyed painting and traveling with the "First Ladies" bank group. She also volunteered for the Arthritis Foundation and the Historic Waco Foundation.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Hazel Kilgore Phillips.

Survivors include her son, Walter Darryl Neumann of Waco, several nieces and nephews and their families.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Royal Manor Nursing Home and Providence Hospice.
