Dorothy Harding

Dorothy Harding, 82, of Waco and formerly of Eddy and Lorena, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 after a long illness and is celebrating her new life in Heaven. A celebration of her life will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Don Long officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery following the ceremony. Visitation with her family will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2011 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Mrs. Harding was born February 16, 1928 in Lorena to Charles Alton Norwood and Gertrude Swaner Norwood. She worked in clerical and administration for many businesses including Lorena Telephone Company, Waco Credit Bureau, Better Business Bureau, GECC, Texas Aero, Mary Kay Cosmetics, HEB Cosmetics, Quality Vending Company, Firmin Business Forms, Automatic Chef, Ron Garrett Chiropratic and nursing home administration. She was active in many community activities including the Waco Air Show.

She was known for her beauty, kindness and sense of humor. Mrs. Harding enjoyed gourmet cooking, entertaining and social events. Everyone enjoyed her big smile and laughter. She loved everyone and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Harding was a member of Lorena Baptist Church and Western Heights Baptist Church.

Mrs. Harding was preceded in death by her husbands, Bob Bass, Leroy Vandergrift and Johnny White of Waco; her parents, Alton and Gertrude Norwood of Lorena; and brothers, Sonny Norwood and Bobby Norwood.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Harding and former husband, Neal Barron of Waco; her children, Linda Barron-Sullivan and husband, Bob of Clearwater, Florida, Carolyn Barron-Bekkelund of Independence, Missouri, Tommy Barron and wife, Sissy of China Spring and Greg Bass and wife, Susan of Grover Beach, California; eight grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
