Dorothy L. Longfellow, 90, of Woodway, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2003, in a Waco hospital. A Requiem Eucharist celebrating Dorothy's life will be held at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 1624 Wooded Acres Drive, Waco, at 1 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2003, with Father John Wells officiating. There will be no visitation, but friends may come by the funeral home and sign the register book. OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque (right across the street from the Heart of Texas Fair Complex), is handling the arrangements for her family.
Dorothy was born April 8, 1913, in Maryetta, Ohio, to Clyde and Lillian (King) Bratcher. She was married August 28, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, to Clifford B. Longfellow who preceded her in death in 1969. She was a homemaker until her husband's death, then she became a pastry baker. Dorothy was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Waco.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who lived a wonderful and full life, Dorothy will be greatly missed by her adoring family. We are so thankful and honored that Dorothy was an important part of our lives, and we know we are better people because of her devotion to God and to her family.
Surviving Dorothy are daughters, Doris Carter and husband Dan of Woodway, and Lois Freeman and husband Dan of Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Mary Kay Hawkins, Gary Carter, Melissa Bennett, Daniel Carter, Daniell Freeman, and Nicole Freeman; and great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hawkins, Robert Bennett, Andrew Carter, Kaveigh Bennett, Austin Carter, Sarah Bennett, Sean Bennett, Seantel Freeman, Richard Freeman, and Gary Carter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
