Dorothy was born June 22, 1938 in Waco, the fourth of eight children to David C. and Birdie (Deason) Burns. She attended Waco schools and the Texas State Technical Institute. She served as clerk for Elm Mott water office for many years. Then she was employed at Goldstein Migels and Dillards department stores, winning many accomplished awards for sales and service.
Dorothy was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to her family and friends. Her family was the pride of her life; she always took time to be involved in their lives, being a source of transportation, a cheering section, a shoulder to cry on, or to just have a smile for everyone.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elm Mott for over 40 years.
Preceding her in death were her father and mother, David and Birdie Burns; and two brothers, Harry Lee Burns and Billy Ray Burns.
Survivors include her daughters, Sheryl Wilson and husband, Ed of Hewitt, and Robin Looney and husband, Dave Archer, of Tucson, AZ; three sisters, Norma Hand and husband, Wallace, of Ross, Shirley Hyutra and husband, Edward, of Joshua, and Marilyn Knight and husband, Mike, of Waco; two brothers, Bobby Burns of Waco and Allen Burns and wife, Rosemary, of San Antonio; two grandchildren, Stephanie Kay and Eric; a step-grandchild, Stephanie Ann, and one step-great-grandchild, Braden, and many loving nieces and nephews.
