Dorothy Jean Lynch, 85, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of family and her beloved cat. She now rests in the arms of her Lord, Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Chaplin Craig Klepenhauer officiating. Burial will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, Houston, TX. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Dorothy was born in Houston, TX to Houston Gwyn Allen and Mattie Lee (Pack) Allen. She attended Houston Public Schools along with her Brother William (Bill) Allen. She was a Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
Dorothy enjoyed 50 plus years serving customers at Weiners Stores Inc. in Houston and Waco. Later she worked at Old Navy in Waco before retiring to be with family. After retirement, when out shopping with friends or relatives she would often greet cashiers or customers waiting to checkout with “I think I know you, haven't I helped you before? “and most likely she had. She enjoyed serving others, and delivering Meals On Wheels with her friends Nancy Cagle and Gladys Strakos.
Dorothy always enjoyed taking trips and car rides. She enjoyed reading and playing solitaire with her cat at her side. She will be greatly missed by family and friends and her beloved cat Sally and anyone who truly loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, former husband, Earl F. Lynch; infant daughter, Francis Diane Lynch.
She is survived by her sons, Raye Lynch and wife,Dixie of Waco, Wayne Lynch and wife, Laine of Sugarland; grandchildren Hal & Alysia Lynch, Laurie Lee (Lynch) Sappington and husband, Dale all of Waco, Teresa Carroll and husband, Tim of Leander, Jason Lynch, of Buna, Brianna Lynch, of Sugarland. Amanda Alexander and husband, Shawn, Aaron Wilkins and fiancé,Tara, all of Houston; great grandchildren, Catherine and Michael Lynch, Trent Sappington, all of Waco. Mikayla,Madison, McKenna Carroll, of Leander,Dylan and Sean Lynch, of Buna; nieces, Susan, Mary G., Margaret and their families, Joan and her daughters, Michelle and Nikki of Conroe; nephew, Bill Allen, Jr. and wife, Lucie and daughters, Crystal and Elizabeth's daughters, Hailey and Sierra, all of Woodboro, and her beloved cat Sally, she loved so much and many friends.
