Douglas R. Wilson, 70, of Waco, died peacefully Sunday, July 9, 2006, in the hospital. Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Central Christian Church, 4901 Lake Shore with Dr. Steve Mansen officiating.
Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery in Ross. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
Doug was born July 29, 1935 in Elm Mott, TX, the son of Clark and Lela Hardwick Wilson. He graduated from Connally High School and attended Baylor University.
On Nov. 23, 1956, he was united in marriage to Alice Lucas of Waco. After serving his country in the United States Army Reserve, he worked for Southwestern Drug Corporation for 27 years. He then was a founding partner of Advanced Ideas in Maintenance (AIM), before retiring in 2002.
He was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He had a warm heart, a devilish sense of humor, and plain-speaking manner that touched everyone he knew . He was a Mason and belonged to the Baylor and Bellmead Lodges and Karem Shrine Temple. He is survived by his wife Alice; son Chuck and wife Laurie; daughter Robin and husband Doug Harrison; and sister Faye Dillard. He was preceded by sisters Maureen Barr, and Lucille Pierce.
One of the greatest joys in Doug's life were his four grandchildren Kate, Jacob, Allison and Will. He will be greatly missed by his large circle of family and friends.
Pallbearers are Billy Elliott, Bill Dyess, Richard McCaskill, Jerry Merritt, Donald Baize, and Byron Brown.
