Dudley Guy

Dudley Guy, 81, of Waco, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Huckeby officiating.

Dudley was born October 31, 1928 in Dodge City, Kansas to Rev. Bernard Guy and Alice Smith Guy. He attended and graduated from Pecos High School in Pecos, Texas. He attended Hardin Simmons before enlisting in the US Army where he served 3 years in Guam. He then returned to the states and resided in Houston where he worked in the oil industry and was involved with ocean exploration. While in Houston, he was actively involved with and was a member of the Houston Grand Opera Chorus. In 1987, he retired and moved to Waco. He taught wood carving at MCC for many years. Dudley was a talented artist particularly in painting, wood carving and silver crafting. He also was a member of the Waco Kiwanis Club.

Dudley was a faithful believer who loved reading his Bible and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waco.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.

Dudley is survived by his wife, Nancy Harrison Guy of Waco; daughters, Teresa Sims and husband, James of Grapevine and Margie Lynn Tyger and husband, Vernon of Houston; grandsons, Andy Kendrick and Matthew Kendrick; and one great granddaughter, Avery Kendrick.

The family wishes to extend a profound thanks to the loving caregivers of Providence Hospice.

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Waco or to Providence Hospice.
