Durward Boggs, 92, of Waco, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 in Waco. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 23 at the Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ, 2800 Lake Shore Drive, with Mr. Ernie Christie officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Durward was born December 6, 1917 in Oakwood to Robert Boggs and Vivian Barnett Boggs. He was a resident of Boles Orphans Home in Quinlan, Texas starting at the age of 10. Durward married Blanche Davis on November 25, 1938 in Haskell, Texas. He was a minister of the Gospel in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. He served as an administrator for the Tipton Home in Tipton, Oklahoma and Mountain States Children's Home in Longmont, Colorado. He was Associate Minister of Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ from 1985 until 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters.
Durward is survived by his wife, Blanche Boggs of Waco; three sons, Dick Boggs and wife, Carolyn of Argyle, Texas, David Boggs and wife, Jeanie of Stratford, Texas and Dan Boggs and wife, Sue of Rockford, Illinois; one daughter, Carol Boggs of Austin; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
