Rudy Pfeiffer, 85, of Waco, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011. He was cremated by his request. a Memorial Service honoring his life will be 5-6 p.m. Monday, January 2, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.
Rudy was born in Hubbard to Albert and Ola (Burton) Pfeiffer. He attended schools in Delia, Axtell, and Mount Calm where he graduated from high school there in 1943. He worked at the Roosevelt Hotel in Waco, Dooly Mills and Cameron Mills before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1944 during WWII. He served on the U.S.S. Kenton during the invasion of Okinawa. At the end of the war, he entered North Texas State University but was called back in 1951 to the Navy during the Korean conflict, serving on the U.S. Epping Forrest.
Afterwards he worked for Chance-Vought and General Motors before moving to Waco in 1960. He went to work for the City of Waco in the drafting department. In 1965 he transferred to the Inspections Department, retiring as the Superintendent in 1988.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Jean Pfeiffer.
Rudy leaves his son, Steve Pfeifer and fiancée Lisa Gilley of West; brother, A.T. Pfeiffer and wife Ilene of Baytown; former wife, Ginger Pfeiffer; step-daughters, Teresa Westover and husband George and Kim Hayes; step-son, Kevin Hayes and wife Kim; and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
