Edna Laird Bryant
July 14, 1908 – August 28, 2008
Edna Laird Bryant, 100, of Waco, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, August 30 in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Waco with Rev. Bryan Thornburg officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2008 at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bryant was born July 14, 1908 to Jesse and Carrie Laird in Reagan, Texas. She lived in Waco since 1940. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waco and a member of the Heritage Club for over 50 years. After retiring from Dugger's Grocery Store and Scarmardo's Grocery Store as a checker, she served as a volunteer at the Crisis Center for many years.
Mrs. Bryant was devoted to her family and provided many hours of fun, fellowship and good food around the table at her home. She was well known for her wonderful skills in the kitchen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ralph Bryant; son, Charles R. Bryant; and three grandchildren, Larry Lassiter, Sherry Woods and Chris Bryant.
Mrs. Bryant is survived by four children, Delores (Dee) Rogers of Waco, Wayne Bryant and wife, Dorothy of Houston, Wendell Bryant and wife, Betty of Commerce and Bobbie Beck and husband, Larry of Waco; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the many friends who put sunshine in our Mom's life each week by their many phone calls, cards and visits. A special thank you is extended to Teresa Creed, Joann Roach, Doreen Allen and Amanda Smith.
