Edna James

Edna Marie James passed away peacefully on February 25, 2017 in Waco. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 2 at 2 pm at Waco Memorial Park in the mausoleum chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 1 from 5 to 7 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Edna was born September 13, 1927 in Van Zandt County, Texas. She moved to Waco in the late 60’s and made it her home. Edna was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and even a great –great, grandmother. She was also a dear friend to many. She loved seeing her family and loved her dog, Sugar. Edna had a passion for gardening…she loved her flowers!

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Warren James; daughter, Lena Capps; son, Bobby Sumner; Sons-in-law, Bert Carey and Noble Capps, Jr.; and grandson, Timothy Seale.

She leaves behind daughter, Pearl Carey of Lorena; grandchildren, Dewayne Carey of Lorena, Denise Sampson and husband, Kellis of Woodway, Dawn Coats and husband, Bobby of China Spring; long lost daughter, Frances Rove of Kansas, who has become a big part of the family; additional grandchildren, Shelia Ash of Waco, Theresa Campbell of Waco, Tamie Mclemore and husband, Lynn of Seguin, Michael Seale and wife, Dennise of Colorado, William Capps and wife, Ericka of Waco, Kelley Bennett and husband, Brent of Waco, and Joe and Gabby Sumner of Hewitt. She was also blessed with 28 great grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.
