Edna Truitt

Edna Truitt, 90, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 in a local care center. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at First Lutheran Church, 1008 Jefferson Avenue. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
Edna was born February 27, 1923 to Henry Edward Jacobs and Elizabeth Reich Jacobs. They moved to Coryell City in 1930 when her father built the family home. Edna and her brother, Melvin and sister, Ruby helped their parents to build the house little by little over two years. A school was built across the street and all the neighborhood children would come over to play after school, football games and baseball games.
She married Fred Deane Truitt at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Coryell City on June 26, 1948 and were married for 60 years until his death in November 2008. Fred worked at the Veteran’s Hospital in Waco for over 40 years. Edna was a member of First Lutheran Church in Waco for over 60 years and active in the F.L.C.W. She cared for children after school in their home for over 50 years and loved to tend to her flower and vegetable gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and brother, Melvin Jacobs.
Edna is survived by her children, Katherine Ann Truitt Lowrimore of Woodway and Marion Elaine Truitt of Waco; and granddaughter, Tracy Kristen Lowrimore Turnham of Albuquerque; her sister, Ruby Jacobs Cunningham of Waco; and countless nieces and nephews.
