Edward Fred "Eddie" Anderson, 70, of China Spring, passed away peacefully Monday, April 24, 2006, surrounded by his family.
Eddie fought a long battle with cancer. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2006, at the OakCrest Funeral Home with Msgr. Mark Deering officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, led by Father David Liebham. Visitation with the family will continue until 8 p.m. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown continuously during the visitation.
Eddie was born March 29, 1936 in Carlsbad, New Mexico, to Winifred Hubert and O.K. Anderson, moving to Waco, Texas when he was a young boy. He graduated from Waco High School in 1954. He attended Tarleton and Baylor Universities.
He was employed by the City of Waco Urban Renewal and Planning Departments for 16 years. He worked for Home Abstract & Title Co. for many years, retiring December 31, 2003. Eddie was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church.
Eddie met the love of his life, Sondra Thompson, on a blind date on December 3, 1956, and they married April 5, 1958. To them was born one daughter and three sons. Eddie loved his wife, children, and grandchildren very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Kenneth George Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sondra; daughter, Laurie Stovall and husband, Wes; sons, Clark Anderson, Scott Anderson and wife, Terra, and Cory Anderson and finance, Yolanda Ramos; grandchildren, Douglas Nix Jr., Tyler Caudle, Brittany, Gage and Eric Anderson; step-grandchildren, Michaela, Hunter, and Ryan Jones; and several cousins.
He will be missed by all of his family and friends. Special thanks to all his caregivers, especially Yolanda.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Nix Jr., Melvin Lipsitz, Will Fair, David Jackson, David Bush, Mark Jackson, Richard Thompson, and Dick Clark.
