Edward Podmore Chamberlain, 83, of Woodway, passed away late Friday night, April 18, 2003, at St. Catherine's.
SERVICES
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the OakCrest Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Bill Agee and Rev. Jim Gray officiating.
GRAVESIDE
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday just outside of Reagan at Blue Ridge Baptist Church which Edward's family founded in 1859. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
VISITATION
Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. A memorial videotape of his life will be shown during the visitation. Friends may sign the register at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Monday.
PERSONAL LIFE
Edward was born February 12, 1920, in Kosse, to Alonzo and Florence (McKinney) Chamberlain. He attended Reagan High School and Long Beach Junior College.
He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. During that time, he was in charge of special training to prepare servicemen before they went overseas. He also spent time in Siapan before the end of the war. After the war, he became a successful businessman in the textile industry.
Edward married Alice Novotny on November 12, 1942, in Santa Monica, Ca. They moved to Waco five years ago from Hearne. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodway.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed his family and friends, and always had a smile for everyone. The family thanks St. Catherine's and the Hillcrest Community Hospice for their care.
SURVIVORS
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice, of Woodway; a son, Mark Chamberlain of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Barbara Welton of Santa Clarita, Ca. and her husband Kelly, and Cheryl Holy of Waco and her husband Ron; two grandsons, David and Jordan Holy, and a granddaughter, Meredith Welton.
HONORARY PALLBEARERS
Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Welton, Ron Holy, David Holy, Mark Chamberlain, Jordan Holy, Hardy Fields, Milton Fields, Ron Novotny, and Bill Novotny.
Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's.
