Edward D. "Buzzy" Sherrill, 70, of Waco passed away Friday, November 14, 2008 at his residence.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery next to his wife, Billie Mae Sherrill. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco.

He was born February 28, 1938 in Waco to A.D. and Polly (Blackwood) Sherrill. He served in the Navy.

For most of his early life, he drove ambulances for his father, A.D. Sherrill, who operated A.D.'s Ambulance Service at 2317 Washington Avenue. He began his ambulance career by running ambulances during the 1953 tornado in Waco.

Later, he became a barber and operated his own barber shop at 18th and Gorman streets until his retirement due to bad health.

He was preceded in death by his father, A.D. Sherrill, in 1984; his grandson, Michael Cory Sherrill, in 1999; his mother, Muriel "Polly" Sherrill, in 2001; his wife, Billie Mae, in 2005; and daughter, Tracey Sherrill Martinez, also in 2005.

He is survived by his two sons, John Sherrill of Hewitt and Bill Sherrill of McKinney; a daughter, Terri Gatlin of Waco; a sister, Johnnie Choate of Pasadena; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
