Edwin Adler

EDWIN STANLEY ADLER was born on January 26, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. He died peacefully on April 22, 2017 in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by music, hugs, and his family. He was 88 years old.

Ed is the son of Abraham Adler of Suwalki, Russia (now Poland) and Jeanette Greenblatt, of Austrian parents, born in New York City. He has two sisters -- Sally Davidson of Tucson and her family, and Sharon Galatzan of Los Angeles, and her children Tamar and Jonathan, and their families.

Ed grew up in Chicago and moved to Michigan for college. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1952 with a Master’s Degree. He served overseas in the Counter Intelligence Corps in Japan from 1953-1955.

In 1955, he married his One True Love, Constance Elizabeth Videan, whom he had met at MSU. Ed and Connie celebrated 61 years of marriage in June 2016. They lived in Chicago when first married; moved to Dallas in 1962 and to Waco in 1980. Ed and Connie have three daughters – Susan Kinder, Jill Naylor, married to Gordon Naylor, and Kristin Adler, married to Dagoberto de la Morena – and eight grandchildren -- Jennifer, Kirstin, Adam, Christopher, Alejandro, Sofia, Nathan, and Daniela. All live in Texas.

Ed was an outgoing, friendly, generous, big-hearted, sociable gentleman. He found much enjoyment in life and lived life fully. He loved people and adored his grandchildren. He had an agreeable nature, a positive outlook on life, and a great sense of humor.

He was practical, sincere, honest, honorable, and trustworthy. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe, South America and Mexico; dogs, especially his grand-dog Rotte; sports, including tennis, skiing, softball, ice hockey, fishing, the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Cubs; restaurants, especially Luby’s, fish tacos, and good chicken; sweets, including anything chocolate, pecan pie and dessert wine; dancing, especially ballroom, swing, square dancing, and Latin, music and concerts; maps, books, history and learning; math and numbers; cars; trips to the barber shop; good conversation and a good debate; cross-word puzzles; detective shows; volunteering and helping others; giving hugs (“HugGUH”); taking care of his family; and his favorite chair.

He was a wonderful son; brother; husband; father; grandfather; friend. We are so lucky to have known him and to have had him in our lives. We miss him. He is now our angel, sending from heaven a big HugGUH.
