Eldon Furgeson, 84, of Waco, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2003 surrounded by his loving family. SERVICES Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, December 19, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in Waco by his nephew Rev. Jerry Vandrovec. The mass will be con-celebrated by Rev. Thomas Niemeir and Rev. Angelo Bertini. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION AND ROSARY Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday with a rosary to follow at 7:00 pm at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. PERSONAL LIFE Mr. Furgeson, the ninth of twelve children, was born on March 13, 1919 to William and Adelaide (Golden) Furgeson, a pioneer family in Beckton, Texas. His only surviving sibling is Corrine Goodpasture of Lubbock, Texas. In addition to Petronella, his devoted wife of 56 years, he is survived by his three daughters and their families: Claire Burton and husband Kenneth, and their children Amy, Andrea, Matt and Mark of Christiansburg, VA; Laurie Hart and husband Stephen, and their children Josie, Molly and Ethan; Theresa McClellan and husband Ian, and their children Adam, Claire and Maureen all of Houston. He is also survived by numerous caring nieces and nephews. He served in the Army Air Force in World War II as a code breaker. He then served his family as a loving husband and father. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man by all who knew him. He received much strength from his deep Catholic faith. 'Papa' was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished raising his daughters and especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
