Elizabeth M. Stobbe Kiphen

March 11, 1922 – March 2, 2013

Elizabeth Marie Stobbe Kiphen “Shug”, 91, of China Spring has gone to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Rosemound Cemetery with Pastor David Gant officiating. Visitation will be held, Monday, 6-8 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd, Waco, TX.

Elizabeth was born March 11, 1922 in Waco, TX to Ernest Stobbe and Johanna Haas. Elizabeth attended school in Waco, graduating from Waco High School in 1939. After high school Elizabeth went to work for American Amicable Life Insurance Co. as a secretary. Elizabeth was a strong woman of God and exhibited it all during her life. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Waco where she sang in the choir and a lifelong member of the WMU. She loved being involved with her church. It was at this time that she met a handsome young soldier who had just returned from two tours of duty overseas. Elizabeth always said she “knew’’ right off that Roy Alfred Kiphen would be the love of her life. This was proven as Roy and Elizabeth where married for 51 years. They enjoyed their life together in Waco and had two sons Douglas Paul (Butch) and Louis Roland (Rusty). Roy and Elizabeth always loved to talk about their sons and one thing Roy always use to say was “Butch is alright it’s that yellow headed boy you better watch out for, (Rusty), that kept them on their toes.“

Elizabeth loved working in her yard, sewing, crafts, and doll collecting. She will always be remembered as a kind woman, never complaining, always ending her conversations in German and making people laugh with her funny German comments. She was a people watcher!

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and husband; Roy A. Kiphen.

Survived by two sons; Douglas Paul Kiphen, wife Debbie Kiphen, Louis Roland Kiphen (Rusty), wife Brenda Kiphen, five grand children; Cynthia M.
