Ella Nadine Davis Dawson, 78, of Hewitt, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in a Waco hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral Services
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Donnell and Rev. Eddie Perry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Moody Cemetery. Directions to the church: From IH 35 South take the Lorena exit and stay on the service road through Lorena; turn right on Old Bethany Rd. and go 3 miles; church is on the right.

Visitation
Visitation will be Thursday, July 15, at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation times.

Ella's Life
Ella was born December 9, 1931 in Lorena to Perry Young Johnson and Erie Parnell. For 25 years, she was a nurse's aide at the Moody Care Center, taking care of many residents during her long years of devoted service.

On November 10, 1952, she married Levi Hayes Davis who died October 22, 1973. On June 27, 1975, she married Richard Dawson who died October 11, 1999. Ella was a loving and caring mother not only to her own 10 children, but to everyone. She especially loved to babysit her grandbabies. In her free time, she really enjoyed playing dominoes. A faithful Christian, Ella was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two sons, Alfred Davis and Chester Davis; and three daughters, Mary Louise Lewis, Carol Ann Davis, and Donna Marie Davis.

Survivors
Ella is survived by four sons, Alvin Davis of Eddy, Jimmy Davis and wife Kimberly of Crawford, Tommy Davis of Hewitt, and Jack Dawson and wife Stacey of Lorena; daughter, Nancy Alexander and husband Tommy of Moody; step-son, Rusty Dawson and wife Vickie of Taylor; step-daughters, Sharon Chavez and husband Larry and Sandy Dawson, all of Amarillo; brother, Harold Johnson and wife Robin of Hewitt; sister, Eva Wilkinson of Eddy; grandchildren, Jerrell, Scarlett, Marilyn, Vanessa, Levi, Angela, Tommy, John, Dillon, Justin, Lauren Paige, Courtney, Zack, Maci, Tena, Bradley, Rusty, Jason, Mandy, Michael, Lindsey, Lauren and Lacy; and great-grandchildren, Marshall, Kacy, Augustus, Bo, Madison, Mckenzie, Jaylynn, Eric, Ethan, Evan, Taylor, Tara, Brooklyn, Andrew, Clayton, and Maddie.

Pallbearers
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Tommy Alexander Jr., Jerrell Lewis Jr., John Alexander, Justin Davis, Dillon Davis, Levi Davis, and Zack Dawson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Coulter, Toby Coulter, and Joe Davis.

Special Thanks
The family appreciates the care given to our mother by the nurses of Hillcrest Medical Center and Hillcrest Hospice, especially Charla.
