Elma Mae (Sis) Murphree, 85, of Waco, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 at the Ridgecrest Retirement Center.
Graveside services will be at 12 noon Saturday, Dec. 1, at Rosemound Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Avery officiating. There will be no formal visitation times, but friends may come by OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Friday for viewing.
She was born in Ridgeley, West Virginia, to John H. and Leota (Hendrickson) Guinard on August 7, 1922. She came to Texas and married S.L. (Pat) Murphree on October 3, 1946. She was employed as an optician for many years.
While she was at Ridgecrest, she was lovingly known as the "Candy Lady" because she kept candy available to everyone. She was a cheerful, people person who always smiled, and she freely kissed and hugged everyone she came into contact with.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001, her parents and her brother, Leonard Guinard.
She is survived by a niece, Ruth Steinke and her husband, Talmadge of Waco.
