Elton Christie

Elton Edward Christie
October 2, 1938 - July 13, 2024.

Elton Christie, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, at home with his family by his side.

Elton was born on October 2, 1938 in Retreat, Texas. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1957. In 1961 he married the one true love of his life, Barbara Jean Penney. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage and raised two sons, Grady and Darin. Elton had a wonderful ability to tell stories and jokes one after another. He could keep you entertained and laughing for hours.

Elton was a hard worker his entire life and faced adversity head on. He retired from AT&T after 30 years of dedicated service. During his spare time, Elton enjoyed hunting, fishing and just about every kind of outdoor activity. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled and will always be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Grady Christie; mother, Flora Donaho; and son, Darin Christie. He is survived by wife, Barbara Christie; son, Grady Christie; daughter-in-law, Karen Christie; and a long list of family and friends. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Ascension Providence Hospital, Caring Senior Service, and to caregiver Cynthia Welch for their exemplary care and support.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard Waco, TX 76710, on Saturday July 20, 2024 from 1-5 pm.
