Emilio Cervantez, 85 years old, of Waco, passed away peacefully at his residence, Easter morning, surrounded. by his family. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, by Father Benjamin Magnaye, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Waco. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Emilio was born in Asa, TX to Arnulfo and Juanita Cervantez on September 9, 1930. Emilio was raised in the Rosebud-Lott area and then moved to Waco where he was employed by Smith Furniture Mfg. Co for 56 years as a Supervisor. He retired in 1994 and then went back to work for Smith Furniture part-time.
For the last 7 years he was employed by Oakwood Cemetery. Emilio was an avid hunter, occasional fisher, and was always building different projects at his home. We will miss his love, his stories, his humor, and his garden and cowboy movies.
He was preceded. in death by his wife of 56 years, Maria Cervantez, bis parents, brothers Pete Cervantez, Rudy Cervantez, Arnulfo (Joe) Cervantez, and two brothers who died in infancy, Ermundo and Juan; sisters Amelia Renteria, Carmen Herrera, and Mary Ann Tovar.
He is survived by his children Janie Sanchez-Silva and husband Ambrosio of Arlington, Susie Gonzales, Frank Cervantez and wife Genevieve of Riesel, Joe Tony Cervantez and wife Gloria, Valentin Cervantez of Dallas, and Christopher Cervantez and Sonia Rodriguez; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, and his sister, Janice Seputveda.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Providence Hospice, Nurse Becky, Christopher, Sonia, Tony and Gloria. You will forever have a special place within us for the care you provided to our Father, and Grandfather.
