Eva Deleon

Eva Martinez DeLeon passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2023.

Eva was born on December 2, 1943 to Jesus and Anita Martinez in Satin, Texas. She came from a large family with 13 siblings and a lot of nieces and nephews. Eva married Seferino Vasquez and they had 3 children: Rosie, Ricky, and Rita. After the passing of her late husband, she eventually moved her family to Waco, Texas where she met and married Frank Deleon and gained a son, Frank Gregory. Eva had such a big heart; she always welcomed you with a big hug and delicious food. Her family would say that her food was magical because it was never ending, you always left her house with a full heart and stomach. Family gatherings were her favorite, food, dancing and so much laughter we will never forget. She loved her sweets, especially chocolate, and loved sharing them with her great-grandchildren. Eva’s great-grandchildren all had their own special bond with her, but all agree she was the best grandmother anyone could ask for. She would do anything for her family she was the “Rock” we all needed. Eva will be missed dearly by all she loved. Eva’s faith was strong she enjoyed sharing the Word of God with her loved ones. When her health started to decline, Visiting Angels were brought in to help care for her, she formed a bond with one particular caretaker Disa. We would like to thank her for the care she showed Eva and want her to know Eva was always grateful for the care she showed.

Eva is preceded in death by her parents; Jesus and Anita Martinez, siblings; Teresa Vela, Beatrice Barron, Theodora Deluna, Lupe Girl Villareal, Rosie Martinez, Jesse Martinez, Rudy Martinez, Raymond Martinez, and David Martinez, Husband Seferino Vasquez, children; Rose Rojas, and Richard Vasquez, grandchildren; Jesus Lopez, Micaela Rojas, Anthony Rojas, and Dean Bryan Cruz McHenry.

She is survived by her daughter Rita Lopez and stepson Frank Gregory DeLeon, sisters; Margie Sanchez, Linda and husband George Morales, Stella and husband Ernest Montelongo, and Becky and husband Scott Anderson, grandchildren; Raymond Lopez V, Ramon Rojas, Raquel Perales, Celina Rojas, Jessica Lopez, Elizabeth DeLeon, and Frankie DeLeon, and 13 great-grandchildren.
