Fern Elaine Martin, 79, of Waco, passed away Friday, April 10, 2008, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Graveside services will be at 12 noon Saturday, April 12, at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Lynn Blumenstetter officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. The procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. to the cemetery.
Fern was born July 19, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Myer and Ida (Abrams) Rosenstock. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to cook and take exceptional care of her family. She married Paul Robert Martin on July 7, 1977 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Fern and Paul moved to Waco in 1991 and along with her son, Dennis Patlis, operated Tanglewood Farm Restaurant until they retired in 1998.
Fern was a sweet and generous lady who was always willing to help others and readily supported many charitable causes. Fern will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and unbelievable sense of humor. Fern kept up with current events and was a great conversationalist.
Since retirement Fern enjoyed playing Bingo, going to casinos, entertaining, cooking, watching cooking shows on television, shopping at flea markets, and traveling. Fern and Paul made a trip of their dream through Italy for 11 wonderful days.
Fern adored her beloved Fox Terrier "Precious." Fern lived life to the fullest, was the joy and life of her family, and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; son, Dennis Patlis of Hewitt; daughter, Bonnie Walters and husband, Don of Gettysburg, PA; and two grandsons, Jason Loschiavo of Orlando, FL and Andrew Patlis of New York City.
