Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video of her life will be shown during the visitation.
Flo was born March 21, 1926, in Decatur, Illinois, to Byron and Gertrude (Wagner) Mier. She married George N. Coffee, Jr. on March 10, 1956 in West, Texas.
Flo was baptized in her early 20's at Bosqueville Baptist Church, where she was active in teaching a pre-teen girls Sunday school class. Flo worked at Montgomery Wards in the mail order department. She then worked at Towne Services for many years and ultimately retired as a bookkeeper from Star Tex Propane.
She spent her life giving her time and love to others. She was part of a group that helped develop the Speegleville Volunteer Fire Department. She was also an active volunteer at the local Democratic headquarters, focusing much of her efforts on Chet Edwards' campaigns.
Flo had a great love for her family. Her grandchildren and their families were one of her greatest joys. Their GiGi was always available at a moments notice to care for her six great-grand children. Her many nieces and nephews have wonderful memories of the time spent with their Aunt Flo.
Survivors include her husband, George; a son, Leslie Mann and his wife, Sherry of Waco; three brothers, Richard Mier and wife, Dorothy of Denver, Roger Mier of Golden, Col., and Fred Mier of Lakewood, Col.; three grandchildren, Lesley Nielsen and husband, Hap, Lori Dickson and husband, Tom, and Russell Mann and wife, Jena, all of Waco, and six great-grandchildren, Nicole Nielsen, Jessica Dickson, James Dickson, Austin Mann, Joseph Mann, and John David Mann.
Pallbearers will be Leslie Mann, Russell Mann, Tom Dickson, Hap Nielsen, Mark Zeman, Paul Coffee, and Paul Walsh.
The family would like to thank the Providence Health Center ICU Nursing staff and the Respiratory Care Department for the loving, professional care that they provided. We would like to give a special thank you to Dr. David Hoffman, Dr. Rodney Richie, Dr. Maydee Rosario, Dr. Ed Carpenter and Dr. Robert Plemmons for their compassionate care during Flo's illness.
Flo and her three grandchildren had many great times at Kiddieland, therefore, the family requests that memorials be sent to Lions Park, c/o Waco Founder Lions Club, 1716 N. 42nd, Waco, Tx 76710, in memory of Flo Coffee.
