Florence Grace Gerick, 80 of Riesel, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at her residence. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday at the OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Oakcrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
Florence was born October 26, 1926, to Jesse Applin, Sr. and Pinkie Belle Applin in Cameron, Texas. While working as a waitress in Cameron, Flo married Alfred Frank (Pat) Gerick in 1947. They moved to Waco where Flo spent several years as a housewife, until she owned and operated Glenora Caf?. Florence went to work for Woolco and retired from K-Mart. Flo's children were her highest priority. In later years, Flo was passionate about the politics of CNN and an avid ESPN sports watcher.
She was preceded in death by her twin bother, "Buddy" Applin.
She is survived by her brother, Jesse Ray Applin; her children, Billy Ray Gerick, and wife, Becky of Waco, Jerry Frank Gerick, and wife, Ann of Waco, Patricia Kay Gerick Adamson of Palestine, and Robert Lee Gerick, and wife, Frances of Riesel; and father of their children, Alfred Frank (Pat) Gerick of Riesel; grandchildren, Mark Gerick, Chris Gerick, Casey Dawson, Shelly Parsons, Nathan Gerick, Nadaya Gerick, Jason Gerick, Lisa Johnson, and Heather Robinson; ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
