Frances LaVerne Dunlap Nix , 90, of Waco, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Waco.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Visitation will be 5 -7 p.m. Monday, March 19, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

LaVerne was born September 24, 1921 in Waco to William Henry and Mary Frances (Sikes) Dunlap. She married Willie Neal "Red" Nix on December 7, 1939 in Waco. She and her husband own Ambold's Lock, Key & Alarm for which she was a bookkeeper.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James, Houston, Thomas and Austin Dunlap; and sister, Nettie Harper.

LaVerne is survived by her husband of 72 years, Willie N. "Red" Nix; children, Martha Sue Libak, James Neal Nix and wife Susan; grandchildren, John Neal Libak and wife Sue, Kara Denise Castro and husband David, Matt Howell and wife Natasha, Heather Cain and husband Adam, Alexandra Vaughn and husband Robert; five great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Kaitlyn, Sophia, Sam, and Bisco; and beloved sister-in-law, Katherine McLendon.

The family expresses thanks for the care given by Dr. Eliason of Hillcrest Hospital; Maida and the staff on 4th floor of Hillcrest Hospital, and Ana Peana and Charla of Scott & White Hospice.
