Frances Baker Rodgers, 87, of Waco, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2014 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Frances Baker Rodgers was born on August 29, 1926 in Waco, TX to George and Velma Baker. She lived in Waco her entire life. Frances married Melvin Rodgers on June 14, 1947. They were blessed with four children, Linda, Melvin, Ruby, and James. She loved children and spent her life raising and making a good home for her children. Frances was always active in their school life and all of their activities. She was a loving Christian woman and was a always there to help anothers in their time of need. The road that was her life was filled with many bumps, all of which she overcame with smile and a kind word. Frances was greatly loved and a great friend to many, she will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; George Baker Jr., son, Mel Rodgers; and grandson, Kristopher Safley.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Melvin Rodgers; daughters Linda Coleman, Ruby Rice and husband Troy; son, James Rodgers; daughter-in-law, Ellona Rodgers; grand children, Mike Rodgers, Tammy Rodgers, Eric Coleman, Brian Rodgers, Kristi Safley, and Nick Rodgers; and one great grand-daughter, Bridget Rodgers.
