Fred Truitt

Fred D. Truitt, 84, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul D. Fiske officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park with Masonic and Military honors.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Mr. Truitt was born in Whitney, Texas to Travis G. Truitt and Claudia Odom Truitt. He married Edna Jacobs June 26, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Coryell City. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and served on the Board of Deacons and Board of Trustees for more than 30 years, he also served as Church Treasurer for 15 years.

He was an Air Force veteran of WWII. Fred served on the Board of Members Choice Federal Credit Union for 36 years and as their President for 18 years; he served as Secretary/Treasurer of American Federation of Government Employees #1822 for 23 years.

Fred was a member of Masonic Lodge # 92. He retired from the Waco Veterans Hospital after 35 years service.

Fred is survived by his wife Edna; daughters Katherine Lowrimore and husband Jerry, Marion Truitt; granddaughter Tracy Lowrimore; sister Helen Roich and husband George; brother Grady Truitt and wife Katy; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Zimmerman, Cory Zimmerman, Bud Allen, Christopher Allen, Shane Lorenz and Bobby Fanning. Honorary pallbearers will be Jared and Chad Lorenz.
