Freda Rochell

Freda Marie Rochell, 86, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 23 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Van Vowell officiating.

Freda was born September 16, 1923 in Mart to Frank Springer and Emma Hausler Springer. She worked as a nurse at Buie-Allen Hospital in Marlin before she began working in nursing homes in Waco. She also worked for the Waco Citizen Newspaper and later for the Waco Tribune-Herald in the circulation department retiring in 1988.

She was an active and involved member of Grace Temple Baptist Church where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Freda devoted her life to her family and church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Frank Springer, Jr., Louis Springer, Otto Springer; and her sister, Emma Rochell.

Freda is survived by her daughters, Betty Watts and husband, Curtis and Deborah De Lillo and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Steven Watts and wife, Jenny, Jonathan Watts, Kevin H. and Christopher B. De Lillo and Destiny Walker; great grandchildren, Hannah and Nick; and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care provided for Freda by the staff at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, Hillcrest Hospice, the Courtyard in Hewitt and the staff and friends at William Booth Garden Apartments.
