Garland P. Back “Whitey”73, answered the calling of our Lord, Saturday, May 31, 2014. Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 at Austin Ave. United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Winslow officiating.
Garland Pearce Back was born in Waco, TX. April 5, 1941 to Garland and Jean Back. He graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and was a member of Kappa Alpha at North Texas State. Garland was a proud member of Austin Avenue Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and watching Lady Bear’s Basketball. Garland was a beloved son, father, and grandfather to his family, he will be missed dearly.
Garland was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Jean, and long-time friends Brian Aynesworth and Chuck Richards.
He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Sosa; son-in-law, Amado Sosa; grandchildren, Amanda and Tyler; and his close circle of friends, Mercer and Loretta Buchanan, Edis Oliver, Cory Stratton, John Dietz, and James and Laura Milam.
