[b]OBITUARY[/b]

Gary Bowers, 57, of Gatesville, formerly of China Spring, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at a Gatesville hospital.
Services will be 10 am Saturday at OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the China Spring Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. A memorial video of his life will be shown during the visitation.
Gary was born Dec. 2, 1946 in Waco to Garland and Jean (Harrison) Bowers. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1965. He joined the U.S. Army in 1967 and was a helicopter mechanic during Vietnam. He married Gayle Gray in 1968.
Gary worked for Atlas Bolt & Screw as a territory manager for 20 years before retiring to his farm in Gatesville. He was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church.
Gary will be remembered for his sense of humor, love for his family, love for the outdoors and most of all for being a best friend.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Gayle Bowers of Gatesville; sons, Christopher Bowers and Scott Bowers of China Spring; two wonderful grandson, Cody and Michael Bowers of Riley, Kansas, and his best pal, Chase.
Pallbearers will be Charles Mitchell, Joe Rogers, Ken Sielaff, Ron Grigsby, John Murphy, and Randy Ridenour.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Whorley and Marvin Harrison.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
