Gary Michael "Porkchop" Carrigan
September 20, 1949 - October 6, 2013
Gary Carrigan, 64, passed away on October 6, 2013. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 10, at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, with Rev. Deryl Leblanc of Abundant New Life church officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Cemetery.
Gary was born September 20, 1949 in Lubbock, Tx to Rev. Austin R. and Rowena Carrigan. He earned a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Stephen F. Austin State University. He served as a parole officer for the state of Texas until complications from his quadriplegia prevented him from working.
In June of 1992 Gary married the love of his life and best friend, Kay Aldredge of Waco. He was a proud father to daughter Bianca Carrigan of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Gary loved his many friends and relished in telling tall tales and corny jokes. He faced physical challenge with a seldom seen tenacity and accomplished more than most manage without those challenges. He fought a valiant fight and when the time came, he went home peacefully to be with The Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, and two nephews.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 22 years, Kay, his cherished daughter Bianca Carrigan, brother Richard Carrigan ( Veeda), sisters; Ann Lipsey and partner, Larry and Brenda Carrigan and partner, Ottie; Step-mother, Fay Carrigan; two niece;, and two great-nephews; and his devoted dogs, Booger and Sassy.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 9th from 5-7 PM.
