George E. Cude, 94, of Woodway, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014. The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away, Blessed be the name of the Lord. Graveside services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, at Rosemound Cemetery with Rev. Jason Ingalls officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.
After George graduated from Waco High School, he served in the Texas National Guard. When his unit was mobilized for duty in World War II, he was shipped to North Africa, and then participated in the beach landings at Salerna, Rapido River, Anzio and Southern France. He received an honorable discharge. He attended University of Texas and earned certification from MCC in art and oil paintings. He was a member of the J.H. Gurley Lodge No. 337 since 1948.
Survivors include his daughter, Rikki Patrick and husband, Bobby; granddaughter, Wendy Bruton; two grand-grandchildren, Chance and Maycee Bruton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family especially appreciates Westview Manor in McGregor and Providence Hospice for their care.
