George Ketchy, 82, of Waco, formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Thursday, October 30, 2003, at Quality Care of Waco.
A cremation was arranged through the OakCrest Funeral Home of Waco. A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
George was born March 25, 1921, in Jamestown to James and Kanthipy (Williams) Ketchy.
He was united in marriage on June 25, 1966, in Jamestown to Coyla Marsh.
He graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Business Administration in 1950, served in the Navy in the Asiatic Pacific, served as past commander of Chautauqua power Squadron, was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun, worked with Little Theater, was treasurer of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, and retired in 1987 as NYS field Tax Auditor.
George enjoyed sailing, golf, and tennis. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He leaves his wife, Coyla, of Waco; a step-daughter, Kirsten Schoenleber and husband Dr. Michale Schoenleber of Roseville, New Mexico, and step-grandchildren, Jessica and Conrad Schoenleber.
