Gerald Walter Bolfing, 86, of Waco, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 in Waco. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 16, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Fr. John Guzaldo officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary will be at Oakcrest Funeral Home on Friday, May 15 at 6 p.m., followed by visitation from 6:30-8 p.m.

Gerald was born August 31, 1928 in Waco, the son of Robert E. Bolfing and Helen Ann (Pardo) Bolfing. He graduated from Waco High School in 1945. He married Patsy Ruth Oakes on June 20, 1949. After 27 years of marriage, Patsy died in April 1977. Gerald married Mary Jo (Garrett) Streit in February 1990.

Gerald grew up working in his father’s store and, with his brother, Ed, eventually built Bolfing’s Food Store in Lacy-Lakeview. Gerald was a long-time member of Affiliated Foods and served as a board member for many years.

Gerald left the grocery business during the 1980s and started an oil and gas business in Eastland, Texas. That business, through many mergers and acquisitions, eventually became Magnum Hunter, a New York Stock Exchange company.
Gerald served on a multitude of boards over the years. He was still currently on the board for Friends for Life where he had served since 1998.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, parents, and step-daughter Susan Blount; and brothers, Pat and Ed Bolfing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; his daughter, Patty and husband, Ed B. Fulbright, Jr. of Richardson; daughter, Michael Ann Bolfing of Austin; son, Gerald L. Bolfing and wife, Kimberly of Waco; son, John R. Bolfing and wife, Gailey, of Montgomery; step-son Bradley Streit and wife, Suzi, of Tyler; grandchildren Jeremy Fulbright, Zachary Fulbright and wife, Tiffany, Jacob Fulbright and wife, Jana, Jennifer Fulbright, Emily Bolfing-Donohoo, Beau Bolfing, Shelby Jo Bolfing, Molly Bolfing, Tyler Bolfing, Brooke Bolfing, Joshua Bolfing, Brock Bolfing, Rachel Milstead and husband, Dylan, Garrett Blount and wife, Traci, Christopher Streit and wife, Abby, Connor Streit, and Don Bearden and wife, Coty; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert G. Bolfing of Montgomery; sister, Helen Marie Pryor of Waco; sister, Margie Anderson and husband, Hal of Chalk Bluff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
