Gerald "Jerry" James Jansing, 79, of Waco, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 with his family by his side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17 at the St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. David Leibham as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 16 at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, with the Rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during the visitation.

Jerry was born in Westphalia, Texas to Dr. B.A. Jansing and Katie Bernsen on August 8, 1926. He attended schools in Westphalia and Rosebud and graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio.

Jerry served in the US Navy from 1943 through 1946. While stationed in San Diego he met the love of his life, Patricia Ann Coss. He and Pat married October 17, 1949 in Westphalia. Jerry and Pat moved to Waco in 1953 as owner of Big Red Bottling and Distributing Company.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Jansing; sister Anita Beach and husband, Bill of San Diego; his children Butch Jansing of Waco; Joanne Jaster and husband, Billy of Waco; Kathleen Allison and husband, Randy of Spring; David Jansing of Irving; Harold Jansing of Highland Village; John Jansing of Waco; Michael Jansing and wife, Shirley of Waco; and 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Butch Jansing, David Jansing, Harold Jansing, John Jansing, Michael Jansing, Billy Jaster, and Randy Allison. Honorary pallbearers are Ted Coss, Ben Englebrecht, John Fulbright, Willie Hammonds, Roy Hoelscher, and Harry Matustik.

Memorials may be made to Reicher Catholic High School, 2102 No. 23rd Street, Waco 76708, or to the charity of your choice.
