Gerald Nafe left this world peacefully Friday, July 2, 2010, surrounded by the love of family and friends. The memorial service for Gerald Nafe on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. wil be an informal, come and go gathering at the Sul Ross Senior Center, 1414 Jefferson, in Waco.
Gerald, the son of Floyd and Bernice Nafe, grew up in Muncie, Indiana, along with his nine brothers and sisters. After high school, he moved to Dallas, then served in the Army at Fort Hood and in Germany. After serving honorably, he attended Texas A&M and was graduated in 1964. He worked for the federal government to help small towns and communities with economic development, and finished his career in private business. He was a Boy Scout leader, he was active in local, state, and national politics, and he was proud to be a Mason. He loved his beautiful wife, Donna for over fifty years, and together they brought two strong sons, Todd and Derek, into the world. Eventually, they were blessed with three adored grandchildren, Evan, Haley, and Rebekah. Gerald loved the outdoors, he was a life-long and highly skilled fisherman, and he passed that love and skill on to his sons. He spent his last years performing volunteer work and enjoying the company of his family and many friends, especially his closest friend and beloved dancing partner, Jackie. His family and friends will remember his easy smile, fun-loving spirit, and his unwavering love and support. In addition to his sons, his daughters-in-law Rachel and Rhonda, and his grandchildren, he leaves behind a close extended family and many friends.
Gerald asked for his ashes to be spread in Arkansas with Donna's. He was deeply loved, and he will be greatly missed.
