Gertrude Thompson

Gertrude Thompson, 88, of Waco, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Ridgecrest Retirement Center. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with her family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Gertrude was born October 9, 1923 in Teague to Sam Comer and Iona McNutt Comer. She married Gilbert M. Thompson May 9, 1942. She was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Cecil Comer, Jack Comer and Billy Mack Comer; grandson, Matthew Thompson; and granddaughter, Michelle Thompson.

Gertrude is survived by her son, Tommy Thompson of Waco; her sister, Patsy Provost and husband, Ross of Teague; grandsons, Wes Thompson and wife, Kim of Granbury and Mark Thompson and wife, Cathy of San Antonio; and granddaughter, Amanda Perales of Granbury.
