Mr. Quintanilla was a lifelong resident of Waco, Texas and very proud of the city of his birth. He attended Waco schools and met the love of his life, Lillie, they were married on December 25, 1958. Together they worked extremely hard to give their children the best education, and their children are very successful in their chosen fields. Gilbert, as he was known by to many friends, believed in giving back to the community, which he did by serving on different boards and activities to improve the community. He served several years on the board of directors of E.O.A.C., was a member and officer of AMISTAD which is a service organization for the Hispanic community, as well as a member of the Pan American Golf Association. He retired from T.S.T.C. in 2000 after 30 years of service. He and his wife attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie Moreno and Joe Gonzales.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 65 years, Lillie; son, Michael Quintanilla and wife, Rene; son, Hector Quintanilla and wife, Renee; daughter, Audrey Guerrero and husband, Joe; granddaughters, Kathy, Lillie, and Marissa Quintanilla, and Natalie Alejandro and husband, Jon; grandson, Marcus Guerrero and wife, Natalie; great-grandchildren, Maverick and Faith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
