Gilbert Glin Ramos, born on November 13, 1961, passed away on March 10, 2025, surrounded by his wife and kids. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gilbert was born and lived most of his life in Waco, Texas before moving to Levelland, Texas, where he married the love of his life, Victoria, on December 1st, 2018. A proud graduate of University High School, Class of 1980, he spent his life dedicated to his family, always finding joy in spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Becoming a father, he loved coaching baseball and softball, always sharing his passion for the game and the values of teamwork and perseverance. He also had a deep love for cooking, music, dancing, fishing, hunting, continuous learning, and traveling - pastimes that brought him happiness and lifelong memories with his family and many friends.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Ramos and Arturo Ramos; brothers, Arthur J. (Artie B.) Ramos and Manuel Ramos; nephew, Omar Anthony Tafolla; and sister, Frances Bravo.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Victoria (Vikki) Ramos and her son, Phillip Singleterry; daughter, Jessica Mendoza and her husband Emilio Mendoza; sons, John- Arthur Ramos and Gilbert Ramos, Jr., and their mother, Elizabeth Ramos; and grandchildren, Jeslyn Mendoza, Whitney Grace Ramos, Emalee Mendoza, Alivia Mendoza, and Vincent Mendoza.
He is also survived by his brother, Frank Ramos and wife Isabel Ramos; sister, Gilda Tafolla and husband Omar Tafolla; brother-in-law, Joe Bravo; sister-in-law, Alice Rodriguez; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Gilbert's presence brought warmth, laughter, and wisdom to all those around him. He never met a stranger and made so many people feel special. His family and friends will forever cherish the love he gave and the legacy he leaves behind.
Visitation will be held at OakCrest Funeral Home on Monday, March 17th at 6pm followed by a Rosary at 7pm. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 18th, at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The internment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
