Gladys Custer

Gladys Marie (Stephens) Custer, 81, gained her angels wings on Saturday, June 6, 2020. Her request for a “celebration” will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 1:30 pm, located at 1861 Church Rd, McGregor, TX at New Day Family Fellowship. Visitation will be held prior to the celebration from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.

Marie married her love, Johnny Lee Custer on December 10, 1960 in Waco, Tx. She is survived by her children, Rodney Custer and wife, Stacey; Terry Custer and wife Kayla; Bradley Custer and Robin Ivestor; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Ronald Stephens, Sr, wife, Deborah, and sister-in-law, Grace Stephens. As well as, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents Henry and Mattie Stephens, husband, Johnny Custer, brothers, H.C. ”Bud”, W.C. “Dub”, Roy, Coy, A.D. “Abby” and Darrell Stephens. Sisters Eva Allen, Oma Fay Carrigan, Geraldine Brewer and daughter-in-law, Lisa Custer.


God called Marie to be a part of the “Lord’s Army” at the age of 14. She loved to share the many amazing miracles and testimonies that she experienced throughout her life. A romantic at heart, she loved to read, sew beautiful quilts, bake and cook for family and friends.

Her most joyful times were talking and listening to everyone she met and she never met a stranger. Her Godly heart was large enough to hold you all.
