Gladys Marie Simpson

Gladys Marie Simpson, 91, of Waco went to be with The Lord and the love of her life, Frank, Friday, September 27th, at Providence Hospital. Services will be 1 pm Monday, September 30, 2013 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Bill Reed officiating. A private burial will follow.
Gladys was born on October 11, 1921, in Aquilla, TX. She graduated from Waco High School in 1939. After graduation she met her soul mate, Franklin Ford Simpson, at the USO Club in Waco. They were married March 6, 1943 and spent 55 wonderful years together. She worked as a medical assistant for many years in downtown Waco and loved to tell the story about surviving the 1953 Waco Tornado in the Professional Building. Gladys actively participated in the Providence Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and was a volunteer at the VA Hospital. She loved to travel and especially loved the horse races, gambling in Las Vegas, and trips to Louisiana. She would not pass up an opportunity to play Bingo or a game of Forty-Two. She was lovingly referred to as Nana by all who came to know her through her grandchildren, and she is now happily united with PaPaw again sharing eternal life.
Survivors include daughter, Marilyn Jackson and husband, Mike of Waco, son, Kenny Simpson and wife, Barbara of Arlington; grandchildren, Kristen Curbo Lawley, and husband, Jonathan of Waco, Allison Curbo Laird and husband, Matt of Houston, and Richard Jackson and wife, Shelley of Katy; Eight Great grandchildren, Ford Laird, Austyn Laird, Will Jackson, Aubrey Jackson, Tyler Zander, Jackson Zander, Kenzie Zander, their father, Jeff Zander, and Cooper Lawley.
Memorials may be made to Caritas of Waco or Cogdell Methodist Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of 3 South at Providence Hospital and Dr. Michael Stones for the excellent care they provided during Mrs. Simpson's final days.
