Glena Jo Apperson, 79, of Waco, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 23at Old Union Cemetery near Groesbeck. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 22 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco.
Glena was born November 25, 1935 in Mexia, Texas to Rufus and Ruby (Herod) Lewis. She was a graduate of Mexia High School. July 20, 1956 she married the love of her life, Bill Apperson in Dallas. She made Waco her home for over 57 years. Glena also worked for many years at Hillcrest Hospital in admissions. Glena was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 64 years, Bill Apperson in 2009.
Glena is survived by her son, Parker Apperson and wife, Teresa; daughter, Sharla Lumpkin and husband Gary; grandchildren, Chase Apperson, Joshua Lumpkin and wife Devin, Caleb Lumpkin and wife Ginger and Philip Lumpkin; great-grandchildren, Kamryn and David Lumpkin; and sisters, Dana Sue Doyle and Queta Carroll.
