Gloria Diaz, 56, of Waco, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Solar as celebrant.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at OakCrest Funeral Home followed by visitation with the family. A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation.
Gloria was born in Waco to Manuel and Tina Chavez, and lived here all her life. She graduated from University High School in 1969, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The love of her life were her children and especially her granddaughter, Ava. She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel, in 1983.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Sealy Diaz; son, Carlos Riojas and wife, Veronica of Bentonville, Ark.; daughter, Mia Hurtado and husband, Adrian of Hutto; granddaughter, Ava Hurtado; step-son, Eric Serrato of Waco; mother, Tina Chavez of Lorena; and sisters, Rebecca Ochoa and husband, Jesse of Hewitt, and Delores Martin and husband, Terry of Lorena.
Pallbearers will be George Ruiz, Joe Moreno, J.D. Franz, Greg Sancillo, Tommy Sustaita, and Julian Duron.
The family thanks the Baylor Medical Center staff for their excellent care.
